On October 9th-14th, the �Ը������� University Precision Flight Team attended the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) Regional Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference (SAFECON). This competition was held at Bowling Green State University, at the Wood County Regional Airport. �Ը������� competes in Region III, which includes flight schools from Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.  NIFA serves as an organization to bring college aviators together competitively and non-competitively. The �Ը������� community planted more than 100 trees in the Climate Change Grove to help offset the university’s carbon footprint and provide a way to research the effects of climate change in our immediate environments. Located behind the Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center, the grove was created through a partnership between University Facilities Management and the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences. This large and ancient, cutleaf beech tree, Fagus sylvatica 'Asplenifolia,' growing near the old carriage house by the �Ը������� University Women's Center, is older than �Ը�������. Nearly 40 people from the �Ը������� community enjoyed a tour of the flowers and trees of Front Campus during part two of the “Walk & Talk: Flowers and Foliage” event, thanks to the Employee Wellness and Health Promotion program and the grounds crew on Friday, Sept. 16. Last Friday, a group of about 10 �Ը������� students received a guided tour of one of the most unique spaces on the Kent Campus – the Herrick Conservatory. It’s the large greenhouse that’s attached to the north side of Cunningham Hall.   The 5,500-square-foot facility is home to a large and diverse selection of plants, plus some fish and a couple of turtles.
