Funding your study abroad experience starts with Scholarship Universe, ÐÔ¸£ÎåÔÂÌì's centralized scholarship platform. Below you'll find how to get started, tips for finding study abroad-specific funding, a look at College-specific opportunities, and external scholarship resources.
Getting Started with Scholarship Universe
All ÐÔ¸£ÎåÔÂÌì University scholarships, including many for study abroad, can be applied to through your student account on Scholarship Universe.
Tips for Finding Study Abroad Scholarships
- Complete the matching questions. Answer as many of the matching questions as you can — this helps the system filter and surface scholarships you're eligible for.
- Search by organization. Use the search bar to filter scholarships by sponsoring organization. Common organizations to check for study abroad funding include:
- Office of Global Education
- University Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid
- Your college and academic department
- Don't overlook general scholarships. Many scholarships that aren't labeled "study abroad" can still be applied toward the cost of an official KSU program. Don't rule out a scholarship just because it doesn't mention study abroad directly.
College of Sciences and Humanities (CSH) Scholarships
1. Judith M. and Thomas B. Phares Endowed Study Abroad Scholarship For sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are studying abroad through a KSU-affiliated or KSU-sponsored study abroad program.
2. Oscar Harrison Williams Study Abroad Scholarship Named in honor of Dr. Oscar Harrison Williams, the first Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences when ÐÔ¸£ÎåÔÂÌì College became a university. This scholarship supports junior and senior students with a declared major in the College of Sciences and Humanities, helping cover expenses related to an official KSU study abroad or study away program.
External Scholarships
Many outside organizations that support international education also offer scholarships open to ÐÔ¸£ÎåÔÂÌì students. The FBE Center maintains a running list of external opportunities.
