• The trip is part of the UC 20095 - Special Topics in University College, 2-credit class that meets for 50 minutes once a week.
• The trip to Florence takes place during spring break of the 2027 spring semester (March 12, 2027 - March 20, 2027).
• Students will need a in order to make the trip.
• Students will meet on Kent's campus and fly from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

• Up to 20 students will be allowed to participate in the trip.
  • Complete an Office of Global Education application for travel ($60 fee collected by OGE).
• The total cost of the trip is $3,500 *cost subject to some changes based on flight costs and exchange rates
• The remaining cost of the trip ($3,440) will be charged to the Spring 2026 student bursar account.
• Application due by November 28th at 5:00 p.m.

We will have a limited number of career awards available for those with financial need. There's nothing you need to do to be considered for this award.

• Global Education Endowment Scholarship
  • This award is from $500 - $1,500 (depending on the level of financial need indicated by your FAFSA). This scholarship is not competitive. Complete an application on ScholarshipUniverse before November 15th. No essays required!
• Michelle D. Thomas Study Abroad Fund
  • This award is from $500 - $1,000. You just need to submit a photo that captures why you want to study abroad and tell us why you want to participate in your chosen program. You can apply on ScholarshipUniverse.
• Ohio International Consortium Scholarships 
  • There is a  for short term programs.
• Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
  • Do you receive a Federal Pell Grant as part of your financial aid package? You may be eligible for the . This scholarship is worth up to $5,000. If you need someone to review your essays before you submit your application, please feel free to send them to edabroad@kent.edu (they just need at least a couple of days before the application deadline to review them!).

The final full day of the trip is a full day for students to explore more of Florence or nearby towns via train.
